About the Neighborhood.

The apartments at 1929 are part of a small urban village that is the center point of the west slope of Queen Anne Hill.

One hundred feet or so from your new front door is an amiable coffeehouse, the Muse Coffee Company. Owned and run by the charming and debonair Brent, the Muse is a great place to get to know your neighbors. Right next door is a very nice specialty grocery and deli, The Icebox. At the Icebox, you can sit down for a very nice lunch, inside or on the sidewalk (hint: try the soup, whatever it is that day!). If you're someone who enjoys being pampered, there's also a spa and a yoga studio in the mix. A close community, the village on West Queen Anne is a place where everyone recognizes you after a week or two (that's a good thing, right?).

The Rest of Queen Anne. A 10-minute stroll up the hill a bit will take you to a larger grocery store, Ken's, and the shops, restaurants and galleries on McGraw Street. Walk along for an additional 10 minutes, and you reach the vibrant business district on Queen Anne Avenue. (For a good workout, walk straight up the hill to Queen Anne Ave!) The main drag of Queen Anne Avenue runs from where the street meets McGraw south past a multitude of nice restaurants and watering holes and shops to the Counterbalance, where avenue drops sharply down to Seattle Center. There are two large markets on top of the hill, Safeway and the Metropolitan Market, and near the Counterbalance there's a Trader Joe's.

Zipping down the hill slant-wise to the northwest on Gilman takes you to 15th Avenue West, with many businesses and straight connections to Hwy 99 the south and Ballard to the north. It's hard to be more conveniently and happily placed on Queen Anne than at 1929 10th West. There's even a golf course and driving range down there. Opening soon on 15th is a new Whole Foods complex. There's a great vet, Interbay Veterinary, near where Dravus crosses 15th.

Getting to Work. Downtown is just south over a rise on broad 10th Avenue West and past Kinnear Park, a 10-minute drive or a 45-minute walk. Seattle Center is 5 minutes down the hill in the same direction by car or half an hour on foot. The house stands on 10th Avenue, along which the electric trolley line runs (that's right, quiet electric buses). The Number 1 bus offers a short direct ride to Seattle Center, Lower Queen Anne, Downtown and Pioneer Square (go M's).
