The Destruction Past, the Building Begins

In the intervening days, David has finished tearing everything out that will be torn out, including the old white tile countertops and backsplash. In the photo at right, you can see the white range (soon to be replaced) and the section of cabinet to be reset at an angle.

Messy, but orderly.

In the meantime, I have continued on with some work out front, but not much. My design firm, Dreamhand Design Studios, is in the middle of putting out a vital promo piece, and our pro bono client, the Seattle-Perugia Sister City Association, is just getting its new calendar out — which means it must be sold on the site we built them. But I haven't squandered all my time. I ordered the sink, a 16-gauge, stainless steel, undermount-style. Should be very nice, especially since granite will be going in where the old white tiles had been.

And I went with David to Dunn's, where we picked up the cabinet-grade plywood and maple facing boards for the cabinet work. He has started putting together the cabinet bases that will really start to give shape to the new kitchen layout.
