The door removed, the intercom removed,
primed to paint.

Looks a Bit Rough at the Moment, but Wait …

David won't start till tomorrow, but there was no reason I shouldn't get going. I'm going to work from the front of the apartment while he works from the back, the kitchen. Sometime in the next month or two, we hope to drive the golden spike, so to speak, by meeting up somewhere around the bathroom.

The electrically controlled gate door is in pretty sad shape, being cracked in some places, and sagging enough its not hitting the striker right. In fact, the striker, which lets the door open when a button is pushed in the apartment, is damaged, too, and must be replaced. I took it off the hinges to start things off.

The wooden frame will reflect the color scheme the house now sports, so it needed a good deal of prep. I washed both it and the door down with TSP to make the old coating receptive to paint. I then put a coat of oil primer on the frame.

Unfortunately, its gotten too cold already for the paint to react correctly; some pieces had to be removed and taken inside to dry in a warmer setting. We'll have to tent the rest of the frame this week and use a heat lamp to raise the temperature enough for the rest of the coats.

The plan for the door is to re-glue and clamp, prime, paint and reinforce it inside where it's warmer
